Graziella's Earrings

Detail
These pair of earrings are very special for  me because two reasons. Firstly a dear friend of mine asked me to make them for somebody who is very very special. I know that person and is also somebody special for me too so I was very proud to make something for her, something I know she will wear and will make her think about my friend and I.

She like roses so roses is what I did for her. Here I mixed fabric and leather. It has also been a special earrings to make because it's the first time I work with the leather since I became vegan and that, obviously gives you quite a lot to think about... But I better leave you with the photos that always say much more than words.

Lots of love,

Azahara

Our soaps

As I promise, here you have our soaps.

I heard and it's true, absolutely agree with it.. "Don't put in your skin what you wouldn't eat", so following that mantra we do our soaps with organic ingredients and because we believe everyone has the right to live with dignity, we use only fair trade products.
So what are they made from?
This funny lovely soaps are our happy sweet orange and goat milk... They moisture your skin and leave a sweet scent of orange... Love them so so much... Soap has a 3 layers design and the best.. That color is all natural!! Spices... I'll say to you the trick in another post....
Plus kids find them cool so love to wash up hands and body with them!!!!

Sshhhh... Quiet!!

We have been outside of the spotlight for a bit.. I know.. We have been working indoors, stirring and planning, studying and sowing... I might be the new year and all the vibes that have but we are getting more and more into do it yourself, craft it, make it, create, grow it... Yes, we think we better make our own items instead of buying them from big chains, in this way we know we just get the best quality products, accuracy to detail, originality and genuine hand operator, craftsperson who really loves what does, enjoy doing it and live doing that. I'm actually thinking lots lately of the people who work in these big fabrics assembling items or just looking at machines how they do their work, working a crazy amount of hours, getting paid a misery and being completely unhappy with their lives and job.. Not having time to enjoy themselves and their families... Or even worst... Thinking of kids working at a tender age when they must mostly just play.. Yes, these and other thoughts have bring DORADO to the mood of DO IT YOURSELF. I've been lately making up my garden, preparing it after the cold winter to grow veggies and herbs... I've sown some already. I just want to know that what I eat is 100% organic and from top quality with local products not grown thousand of miles away and transported by plane to my city.  I started to cook my own vegan cupcakes with my own recipes and so far they have been quite successful (we are at the point of just family and close friends can try them).. Thinking to open a  tea saloon speak-easy in my area... So far I got my food handler certificated so I'm allowed to cook and sell my products... As you can see, lots of things have been going on... My earrings are there, as always were, and are my main passion and my joy. I continue creating new collections but this time I need to divide the time in between so many other things.... And my last bit... Homemade organic soaps and body creams... Tonight I prepared refreshing sweet orange organic soap and jazmin oil and oat goat milk soap. They can get out of their molds tomorrow.. I'll post a photo for you... In the main time... Here you have some of my muffins (today it was persimmon with porridge and golden syrup)...

How did we do Isabel's fabric rose necklace?

Isabel's fabric rose necklace
If you do craft  is purely because you love to do it. You spend so long time doing everything!!! Why do I say this? Unfortunately I've notice in markets I've been doing recently people don't appreciate something done handmade... And that is a bit sad :-(
Some many of my craft colleagues with whom I've done some markets repeat the same thing:

"People don't appreciate what is handmade and with good quality, most of the people want to buy cheap and don't consider neither the quality, neither the creativity or time spent in making an item".
Unfortunately not everyone is like that but somehow is true that that is happening... What can we do to change that and make the beauty of the craft items get the value that really have? I do my bit, I share with you how Isabel's necklace is done. I spent nearly 6 hours doing it in between designing, choosing fabrics and making the pieces and sewing.

Here you have all the steps to make it:
First we need to cut strings of fabric, some pieces work.
We make a not at one extreme of the string and roll over it so that's how we make our fabric rose
And we make more roses of different sizes
Now we have to decide the shape we will give to our necklace
We cut a piece of jeans with the shape we chose and sew each rose over it
Sewing and sewing...

We have our roses in place! Now strings for the necklace

We take a 100% cotton old T-shirt and cut some strings
We make the knot
Adding the strings, knot and go
Isabel Necklace

And you were wondering how did we made that knot... Please check in HOW TO MAKE A KNOT

How do you make the knot?

The knot is really easy to make, here you have step by step how to make it! Enjoy!

Cut some strings from an old T-shirt 100% cotton (the oldest the better because strings roll over them easily)
With the string fold it once and make a ribbon shape. Fold over the other string and place it as a smile over the ribbon

Take the right extreme of the smile and place under the right extreme of the ribbon
Take the left extreme of the smile and place it under the loop of the ribbon
Take the right extreme of the smile and pass over the right side of the ribbon, under the left extreme of the smile and over the left side of the ribbon

Pull from the four extremes in opposite directions and you have your knot ready!!

We have use it for our necklace but you can do whatever your creativity will bring you to with this ribbon: headbands, bracelets, customization of clothes, handbags....

Black Leather Handmade Flower Brooch

Flower leather brooch
Oh!!! We were asked to do another leather flower brooch and this is what we did!!
Steps are the same we follow as the rose brooch but here you have some pics of how we did it.
A tip: The round edges are possible burning a bit the leather and of course, leather needs to be top quality!!
Petals glue with each other using PVA glue.
All you need is love, passion and time.

Please enjoy. If you have any question, please ask me!!

Love!!

Coco Collection

Earrings are my passion, and I dedicate all the time I spend doing my earrings full of joy and happiness. I love the process from the first moment until the last one. I show you how is normally the process of making a pair of earrings.

This Coco Collection is inspired in the passion my little one has for cars: We see plenty of them during the day on the street, in his books, his toys. The cars of my collection have this childish look with a bit of humor added by the imagines of comics.

Firstly I have to design the car, how will it look like. After I design on paper, I pass it to carton which will make it easier to cut of the shape over the leather (I only use 100% leather of the best quality).

I have leather of different colors and textures, plenty of fabrics also to mix up... So I look at all of them and mix up as I like the most. Once I decide what goes where and how, I just start to put all the pieces together and.... Voilà the first car is done!!!

The second one comes just a bit more faster. I just need to add the silver rings and the hook and the earring is done!!! This particular model has a denim button to add a bit of extra texture and because I think it looks cool!!! And the last bit, my logo in leather attached to the right earring (AD) and earrings are done and ready to be shown around!!!

1. Model done in paper, now we have to cut it
2. Model and different parts over hard paper

3. Messing around cutting, drawing and sticking
4. All the pieces are around, nearly done one car
5. Cutting out the car from the leather

6. Both cars already done, missing to punch the hole and attach to the silver clip
